What to Bring & Expect
If you’ve booked your Safe Pass course (or are thinking about it), you might be wondering:
“What do I need to bring? What’s the day like? Do I need to study beforehand?”
You’re not alone – we get these questions all the time.
This guide will walk you through exactly how to prepare for your Safe Pass course in Dublin, what to bring on the day, and what to expect, so you can walk in feeling calm, confident, and ready to get certified.
What Is the Safe Pass Course?
Just to recap: The Safe Pass course is a mandatory one-day safety awareness programme for anyone working on construction sites in Ireland. It’s approved by SOLAS, and once you complete it, you’ll receive a Safe Pass card that’s valid for 4 years.
What to Bring to Your Safe Pass Course
To ensure you’re fully prepared on the day, here’s a simple checklist of what you’ll need:
1. Photo ID 📍(Required)
Bring a valid photo ID — such as a passport, driver’s licence, or GNIB card. This is required for registration and certification purposes.
2. PPS Number 🖊️
You must provide a valid Personal Public Service (PPS) number.
Don’t have one? Let us know in advance, we can help with SOLAS-approved alternatives.
3. Passport Photo 👨📷
You must bring a passport photo with you on the day. This will be used on your official Safe Pass card.
If you don’t have one ready, don’t worry. We have a passport photo booth on-site at our premises. Just remember to bring coins to use the machine.
4. Comfortable Clothing 🧥
You won’t be doing physical work, but you’ll be sitting for several hours. Wear something comfortable and casual.
5. Lunch / Snacks 🥪
Please bring your own lunch, as we do not provide food on the day.
You’ll have a lunch break mid-way through the course, along with shorter breaks throughout.
There are also some nice cafés and shops nearby if you’d prefer to grab something during the break.
6. Booking Confirmation 📄
Bring a printed or digital copy of your booking confirmation email, just in case.

We want you to feel fully relaxed and informed before you arrive. Here’s how the day typically runs:

• Trainers are friendly, supportive, and explain things clearly (perfect for all levels of English)
The Assessment
• At the end, you’ll take a short multiple-choice quiz.
• Once you pass, your details are submitted to SOLAS, and your Safe Pass card is posted out within 4–6 weeks.
Do You Need to Study Beforehand?
No studying is required in advance — everything you need is covered on the day. However, if you want to feel extra confident, we recommend:
